The sport of horse-racing, which was once a dominant sport, has become a secondary sport over the course of the second half of the 20th century. As the face of the sport changes, one has to wonder which direction it will go. Big Brown is gaining immense amounts of media attention as he hopes to sweep the Triple-Crown.
On the other hand, a majority of people who watched the Kentucky Derby were more concerned about the heath of Eight Belles, who broke both legs during the race. PETA, or the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, has argued that Eight Belles jockey, Gabriel Saez, should be liable for the death of his horse. These two separate incidents that occurred that day have given two faces to the sport. As the next race in the Triple Crown looms, only the future will tell what will happen to the sport of horse-racing's image
